"Sarasota group the Equines mix bouncy guitars, beach-boogie xylophones and an overall fun-loving sensibility to create danceable indie-pop gems...picture Vivian Girls on a laid-back family vacation, or Blake Babies with a tropical twist." - Jay Cridlin, Tampa Bay Times

"..The band’s style is a melding of late-70s Post-Punk with Pop sensibilities, mixed with a bit of Southern Folk...Stevie Nicks with a Folky twist" - Marc Ganancias, Examiner.com

"..2009 was a notable year for the Suncoast music scene. Most prominent was the resurgence of cooperative spirit among original acts, with Finch House leading. The hippy-esque living quarters house band members/college-goers who study, create art and music, generate spontaneous ideas and freely share what they've learned. That includes generating sampler CDs of upcoming groups, holding regular concerts amongst their ranks, being available for impromptu fill-ins when venues get cancellations, and occasional 'zine publication, all courtesy of The Equines' frontgal Erin Murphy and sidekick Greg Ferris." -Dawn Scire Sarasota Herald-Tribune

"...pirate or princess, the Equines will take you to a magical place. And now that they’ve got a record out, you can visit there as much as you want."
    -Creative Loafing Sarasota

The Equines (a.k.a. Maid Mosephine and the Equines), springing up from Sarasota, Florida, started as a joke band. It was really just a funny sounding name. Mosephine then got serious-ish and started writing songs. Andrew Sink joined as an equine soon after, playing cello. The other equines found their way one way or another (following their noses, perhaps, as the music smells sweet) and in October 2008 started playing as a band, with drums and real electric instruments. Now we tell bad jokes instead of being a joke. One day, we will play in Sweden. We have a friend there.
